Comcast Tops CableFAX Top 10 Places to Work in Cable List

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

“CableFAX” magazine today announced its list of the “2008 Top 10 Places to Work in Cable,” and its favorites include Comcast, Cox, Discovery, Turner, ESPN, Charter, Bright House Networks, Scripps, Time Warner (News - Alert) and Bresnan Communications.

Based on nominations from employees, recommendations from industry experts and research by the CableFAX staff, the list is described by its developers as coming as a welcome breather at a time when attrition is running high, the economy is faltering, and the pressure on employees and employers mounts.

Seth Arenstein, the magazine’s editorial director, said, “With layoffs being a major concern of cable employees, it’s good to work for the largest MSO, Comcast (News - Alert), as there’s little chance of job cuts due to acquisition of the company. In addition, Comcast is a leader in diversity, with 20 percent of its executive team being minorities and 35 percent being women.”

Discovery Communications that features on the list is seen as being always progressive, despite layoffs. The company continues to lead in employee benefits, providing full-and part-time employees benefits immediately upon hire.

Apart from the Top 10places to Work list, CableFAX magazine has also included the Top Operators in Cable, featuring the most outstanding independent operators and MSOs, and topical features such as an exclusive interview with Mark Cuban of HDNet, in its July issue. Find out how the American consumer is being defrauded on HD by big media from mark, and also, what he’d do if he ran NCTA (News - Alert) for a day.

The CableFAX group of products includes CableFAX Daily, Content Business, CableFAX: The Magazine, HD Briefs, The Faxies Awards, the CableFAX 100 event, the Program Awards, and webinars and networking events.
