PTCI Selects Entone for High-Definition IPTV Rollout

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

The provider of IPTV (News - Alert) home connectivity solutions, Entone, recently announced that their Hydra HD IP video gateway and Amulet HD IPTV receiver have been chosen by Panhandle Telephone Cooperative (PTCI) for their high-definition (HD) IPTV service rollout.

As a progressive IPTV and digital cable provider, PTCI offers "quad-play" residential and business communication services throughout the Oklahoma Panhandle and portions of the Texas Panhandle. The company’s services include local and long-distance telephone, DITV (digital interactive TV) and digital cable TV with 140+ channels, TV Web surfing and DVR, high-speed Internet and wireless service with free mobile-to-mobile.

"To be competitive in this dynamic marketplace, we needed a reliable, whole-home network solution that would allow us to cost-effectively deliver new and advanced IPTV services, such as HDTV, on-screen caller ID, and interactive applications," stated Ron Strecker, CEO of PTCI.

"We selected the Entone (News - Alert) solution because of its field-proven track record and its ability to deliver these advanced services without having to rewire our subscriber's home, thus, expediting our rollout by reducing truck rolls,” added Strecker.

As part of Entone's Connected Home Solution, the Hydra HD IP video gateway and Amulet IPTV receiver eliminate the need for multiple set-top boxes or new home wiring to deliver IPTV services.

They also support whole home networking technologies such as HomePNA (News - Alert), HomePlug, and 802.11n which allow for the high speed delivery of rich media throughout the home using existing coax wiring. This significantly improves the business case for IPTV services by reducing the installation costs and eliminating the complexities associated with deploying IP video.

"We are pleased that PTCI has selected Entone for their high-definition IPTV rollout," said Steve McKay, Entone's CEO. "We are excited to be adding PTCI to our roster of more than 30 service providers deploying with Entone. We look forward to supporting PTCI as they launch new IPTV services."
