Corning Cable Systems Exceeds Industry Standards

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Corning Cable Systems announced that its FutureCom 10TENe Copper System exceeds international ISO/IEC (News - Alert) 11801:2002 Amd1: 2008 and American ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10-CAT6A system standards requirements.

Corning (News - Alert) Cable Systems FutureCom 10TENe System is the latest in the FutureCom solutions and has been specifically designed to support 10Gbit/s applications over 100 meters, said the company. The system is compliant with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE (News - Alert)) 802.3an and the recently released new EA class. It also works with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and PoE Plus applications

According to Corning Cable Systems, the FutureCom S10TENe module has received the GHMT Premium certification from the accredited test lab for cabling and connection components, GHMT, said the company.

The S10TENe module is the ideal solution for data centers and local area networks (LANs) due to its robustness, ease of installation and handling, said officials.

The system is provided with a three-component architecture, an intuitive wire management system and integrated cable strain relief to make the installation simpler and faster, according to the company. It features a die-cast housing and a secured dust protection lid to shield unused ports in adverse climatic conditions.

The FutureCom 10TENe System features insulation displacement connector (IDC (News - Alert)) technology, which enables fast and easy termination without the need of special tooling or wire preparation, said the company.

“The FutureCom 10TENe System's high-quality level of performance, alongside its immunity to alien near-end and far-end cross talk, ensures network security and an investment in the future,” said company officials.

According to Corning Cable Systems, the cabling system also facilitates upgrades to higher classes and future applications without the need to replace backbone cables. It is designed for optimal electrical characteristics at minimum diameter and weight, addressing the crucial space and cooling issues of data centers, said officials.

Corning Cable Systems offers a wide range of end-to-end fiber optic and copper product solutions, including cables, connectors, and related hardware, and network services that include network design, project management, installation and maintenance, equipment rental and training programs.

Corning, the parent company, is a specialist in glass and ceramics technology. Corning makes components that enable high-technology systems for consumer electronics, mobile emissions control, telecommunications and life sciences.
