Japan's Fuji Television Network Selects Imperva for Database Monitoring

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

To meet internal governance and database security requirements, a Japanese television broadcasting company reportedly has selected Imperva’s SecureSphere Database Monitoring Gateways.

The deployment, to the Fuji Television Network, reportedly was supported by Japanese distributor Ahkun Co. Ltd.

Fuji says it selected Imperva because: Imperva supported transaction intensive networks and applications without affecting performance; the company provided comprehensive database auditing and security capabilities; and it imposed zero impact on the existing production environment.

To meet Japan’s Financial Instruments and Exchange Law, Fuji TV deployed SecureSphere to strengthen controls over its financial data and establish a governance framework. Fuji TV got an automated reporting system that simplifies and reduces the cost of documenting and demonstrating J-SOX compliance with the help of SecureSphere.

Officials from Fuji say they felt that SecureSphere was the only product that enabled the company to monitor and audit database activity without impacting its existing infrastructure. Allowing the company to meet J-SOX requirements easily, SecureSphere provides Fuji with full details on database queries and responses. The company also says it was impressed with SecureSphere’s ease of deployment and support services.

Companies say that even in large, transaction-intensive environments can take use of Imperva SecureSphere because of its ability to operate transparently. Apart from the depth and breadth of its database monitoring, Fuji was also impressed with how easily SecureSphere dropped into its network. From both a technical and an internal process perspective, Imperva has enabled Fuji TV to streamline J-SOX regulatory compliance.

“Fuji Television Network is an excellent example of how audit and compliance requirements are driving the need for database monitoring and security across a wide range of industries,” says Michael Lyu, vice president of Asia Pacific sales for Imperva. “While companies recognize the importance of database audit and protection, they are not willing to sacrifice performance. SecureSphere’s ability to monitor, report on, and block database activity without slowing down response times, sets it apart from the competition.”
