Swisscom (News - Alert) has picked IneoQuest IQPinPoint Multi-dimensional Video Quality Management System to manage end-to-end video quality throughout their advanced IPTV (News - Alert) video delivery network, Bluewin TV.

 

Bluewin TV offers a variety of services combined with a set of intelligent tools including an electronic program guide with details of current and upcoming programs, a live pause function, and easy-to-use programming functions for program or serials via remote control, mobile phone or the Internet.

 

The IQPinPoint system uses the IneoQuest (News - Alert) family of network probes including IQMediaMonitor for head-end and core, as well as the new Cricket family of probes for network edge to the customer premise and the iVMS, a multi-dimensional video quality management system that can remotely monitor and automatically troubleshoot video quality across the entire network.

 

Head of Network and IT Operation at Swisscom, Philippe Vuilleumier, said that Bluewin TV next-generation television services are expected to give consumers a highly personalized, highly integrated on-demand viewing experience, while enabling operators to rapidly introduce new applications.

 

Vuilleumier explained that in this environment, having video quality performance visibility across all network subsystems is absolutely critical in order to ensure both customer quality of experience and OPEX (News - Alert) goals are met. IneoQuest’s multi-dimensional network monitoring and analysis approach to video quality delivers the quality assurance tools that are key to that success.

 

According to Stuart Newton, general manager of IneoQuest European Operations, providing objective, at-a-glance video quality metrics across an entire network including all subsystems requires more capabilities than traditional monitoring tools can deliver.

 

IneoQuest’s new IQPinPoint system automatically monitors and analyzes in three dimensions, across the entire IPTV network, verifying the quality of all video subsystems to ensure network issues are identified and resolved before viewers are affected.

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) television content is delivered to the viewer through the technologies used for computer networks instead of being delivered through traditional broadcast and cable formats.
