Shaw Communications to Acquire Campbell River Cable System for $46M

The membership of the Campbell River TV Association ("CRTV") has approved the sale of the cable system in and around Campbell River, British Columbia to Shaw, announced Shaw Communications (News - Alert). Since 1957, CRTV has been providing the residents of Campbell River with cable and Internet offerings.
 
Peter Bissonnette, president of Shaw Communications, said their company is delighted that the CRTV membership has so strongly endorsed their offer and look forward to serving the Campbell River customers who join their neighbors from Courtenay and the Comox Valley in choosing Shaw.
 
John Kerr, president of the Board of Directors of CRTV, said that they are proud of the services they developed and offered at CRTV over the last 50 years. He noted that their members recognize that they will enjoy an enhanced offering of entertainment, Internet and digital phone services through Shaw.
 
Valued at approximately $46 million, the transaction is scheduled to close pending CRTC approval.
 
Shaw Communications is a diversified communications company whose core business is providing broadband cable television, High-Speed Internet, Digital Phone, telecommunications services (through Shaw Business Solutions) and satellite direct-to-home services (through Star Choice).
 
In July, Shaw unveiled "The Frame", a 24-hour high-definition (HD), commercial-free photographic art service showcasing visual imagery from celebrated artists and photographers worldwide. The new art service will enable viewers to experience the world of illustrious photography and art in HD from their living rooms.
