Scopus Debuts Integrated Receiver Processor Platform

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Scopus Video Networks (News - Alert), a company which develops, markets, and supports digital video networking solutions has launched a new Integrated Receiver Processor (IRP) platform, which is a multiformat receiving/decoding/processing platform for cable, satellite, terrestrial, and IPTV (News - Alert) operations.

The IRP platform is developed to meet the requirements of broadcasters' for handling multiformat HD/SD content, MPEG-2/H.264 decoding, transport stream descrambling, IP edge streaming, ASI aggregation, remultiplexing, transmodulation, HD-to-SD downconversion, and much more.

"Today's broadcast operators and content providers are challenged like never before to expedite a smooth transition to digital broadcasting and establish mass delivery of HD services," said Yan Mostovoy, associate vice president of marketing at Scopus Video Networks.

“With the IRP platform, we're directly addressing these challenges by bringing together multiple front-ends, program descramblers, and powerful remultiplexing capabilities, all within a compact 1-RU chassis. The result is a flexible and cost-effective reception solution that can be easily configured to meet the needs of each operator or broadcaster," Mostovoy added.

The IRP platform, which ensures reliable content contribution and distribution, also incorporates a powerful multiplexing core that enables grooming and PSIP aggregation of multiple HD and SD programs for digital content distribution.

This capability totally eliminates the need for an external multiplexing device, reducing overall system costs and complexity, the company says. The platform also provides a TS processor for multiple-program descrambling, remultiplexing and streaming, and transmodulation from multiple DVB-S/S2 ASI inputs to multiple QAM outputs.

Scopus has planned to launch the IRP platform at IBC2008, which includes exhibition of all latest technology and foremost business ideas, as well as a world-leading technical conference.
