Hill Country Telephone Picks Infinite Video IPTV Solution for Trial

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Even Technologies said that its subsidiary, Infinite Video, has entered into a contract to trial high-definition (HD) video services over the existing network at Hill Country Telephone Cooperative (HCTC).

"By selecting the Infinite Video IPTV (News - Alert) solution, we will deliver the best video quality and provide our members with an experience better than cable,” said Larry Pechacek, business development manager at Hill Country Telephone.

The Infinite Video's IPTV solution delivers standard definition video at 750kbps and high- definition video at 3Mbps - giving access to the triple-play market. Pechacek believes that this choice will leverage the recent network upgrades to immediately offer high definition video services to the members.

This latest trial is expected to demonstrate how Infinite Video's Internet Protocol television (IPTV) platform will reach HCTC's 14,000 members. The program is expected to deliver high-definition broadcast television, local programming, video on-demand and subscriber features such as electronic programming guides and Web browsing.

The integrated solution offers HCTC a comprehensive platform to deploy HDTV and quickly attract new subscribers to their services.

Using Even Technologies' video compression, the Infinite Video IPTV solution provides a key competitive advantage by delivering next generation HD video at 3Mbps over broadband networks currently in place.

“Infinite Video has built an IPTV platform that minimizes infrastructure and operating costs to enable telcos such as HCTC to launch HD television services and compete cost effectively in a market expected to hit 82.6 million homes in the next three years,” said Robert Saunders, co-founder of Infinite Video.

Infinite Video’s end-to-end IPTV delivery solution enables telcos to deploy video services to all of their subscribers, eliminating the cost of rebuilding the network. Telcos can deliver the triple-play of broadcast television, mobile video and Internet video over their existing infrastructure.

Vancouver, Canada-based Even Technologies product portfolio includes hardware and software encoders, PC and cell phone decoders and set top boxes which enable multiplatform broadcast and on demand video services over existing wireless, satellite and IP networks.

Earlier this month, company announced the successful completion of an extended IP broadcast contribution trial with Zhuhai TV (ZHTV). Using Even Technologies' video compression solutions, BFS Media and Zhuhai TV delivered live CCTV coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
