The Sports Network Becomes New Global Provider of NHL Real-Time Game Data

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributor

The Sports Network (TSN), a provider of global real-time sports content, has announced a multi-year partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL).

According to the partnership, TSN will be the exclusive, officially licensed global distributor of real-time NHL game statistics to Web sites, broadcasters, arenas, fantasy games, and selected mobile applications.

TSN will also market and distribute real-time scores and official NHL stats generated by NHL HITS (Hockey and Information Tracking System) being the exclusive statistics partner of NHL.

These stats include boxscore data such as goals, assists, points, shots, penalties, time on ice, cumulative season stats for players and teams, player career statistics, league standings and official scoring leaders.

Also, the network will market and distribute the NHL daily online video “NHL Daily Dose.” The video will briefly re-cap NHL action from the night before and will enable customers to bundle rich NHL media with NHL statistics to comprise a compelling content package to their consumers.

Mickey Charles, president and chief executive officer of The Sports Network, said that as the exclusive distributor of the NHL's real-time statistics, only TSN can enable publishers to offer their consumers
the best in NHL statistics.

Charles noted that whether it's for a fan, a fantasy player/participant or a member of the growing audience for real-time NHL content, TSN's customers will stay ahead of the competition with its industry-leading technology, programmed and formatted in a delivery mechanism designed by XML Team Solutions.

Peter DelGiacco, executive vice president and chief technology officer of NHL, commented that the league is pleased to align with TSN to distribute NHL statistics to an even broader base of media worldwide.

The Sports Network is a known international real-time sports wire service of the U.S. with over a quarter of a century of growth and experience. The network deploys state-of-the-art technology in an exclusive alliance with XML Team Solutions to wire a variety of sports content ranging from news to scores and statistics on a 24/7 basis.
