FiOS TV Promotes Cost Effective HD Entertainment Package

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

American families increasingly prefer "home enterstayment," meaning watching movies and shows at home rather than going out and spending some dough. Keeping this trend in mind FiOS (News - Alert) TV has unveiled a new cost effective HD entertainment offer that is designed for viewers who do not wish to compromise quality and also want to their save money.

The offer starts November 3; new customers who sign-up for FiOS TV by Dec. 31 will be provided 90 days of free access to channels like Cinemax, HBO and FiOS TV's Movie Package in addition to their huge HD video on demand (VOD) library.

The company has stated that this trial will allow users to calculate their budget and also act as an advertiser to choose their choice of entertainment in the future.

"In today's economy, people are staying home more and going out less," said Shawn Strickland, vice president of video solutions for Verizon (News - Alert). "FiOS TV already offers the ultimate 'home enterstayment' experience that cable can't match, with more free HD and better picture-and-sound quality. Our latest promotion helps new customers experience free premium entertainment content, and lets them evaluate premium services before deciding to subscribe."

Verizon officials say that FiOS TV is delivered on a 100% fiber-optic network. Their entertainment pack has 348 digital channels and 100 HD channels broadcasted with surround sound capability.

For the cost conscious customer, FiOS TV says they can save money by having just one Home Movie DVR (digital video recorder) for the entire family. It would be enough for recording favorite shows and then watch them on any TV on the house.

The DVR can record up to 80 hrs of SD programming and 20 hrs of HD programming. The FiOS TV's Home Media DVR is also bundled with Media Manager, a feature that allows customers to access photos and music from their personal computers and play them on their TV or home theater system.

In addition to receiving free premium content, new customers taking advantage of the promotion can also order the Home Media DVR for just $15.99 a month -- the price of a standard FiOS TV DVR -- for the first 90 days, and $19.99 a month thereafter.
