Sybase 365 Ready to Dominate Mobile Data Roaming Market with GRX 365 Service

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase (News - Alert) Inc., a global provider of mobile messaging services, has confirmed its position as the world’s largest provider of mobile data roaming services. This announcement follows the formal launch of its GRX 365 service.

The GRX 365 service provides superior network performance and security, community value and global reach for its operator customers. This service also positions the company for strong leadership in next-generation mobile services.

In July of 2008, the company secured the exclusive global rights to the Cable & Wireless (News - Alert) (C&W) GRX network with more than 70 directly connected mobile operators and 19 peering partners. Most of these are the top two players in their respective countries with high ARPU customers.

Sybase 365 (News - Alert) is working to further extend the number of operator customers connected to GRX 365 globally. When successful, the company will have effectively extended its global reach and established itself as a strong leader in its market space.

The data backbone for the GRX 365 is the very high quality of service C&W MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network. This network is considered to be one of the most secure and best performing private IP networks in the world. As the backbone, this network ensures a customer service level beyond all other competitors.

The GRX 365 provides millions of mobile subscribers with reliable and secure access to their home network data services, which include wireless e-mail, WAP browsing, MMS and SMS as they roam across multiple operators almost anywhere in the world.

When a mobile subscriber travels outside of their home network, the mobile operator can no longer control the quality of their customers’ experience. The operator must instead rely on its operator roaming partners to deliver a quality experience. Subscribers used to a high degree of 3G availability when they are at home, naturally expect the same when they are travelling.

“GRX 365 ensures an excellent user experience, maintaining high customer satisfaction and an increasing ARPU for mobile operators,” said Marty Beard, president of Sybase 365, in a Monday statement. “The sheer number of subscribers who can reliably access data services from their mobile helps operators grow their inbound and outbound roaming revenue.”

Sybase 365 can rely on its strong GRX to adapt and grow its services as the mobile ecosystem migrates to an increasingly IP-driven infrastructure. The GRX 365 solution is positioned as the best choice for global data roaming and for international multi-media messaging exchange. The solution is also IPX-ready and able to deliver interoperability for Voice and Video over IP and Instant Messaging among other services.

“We have the strategic ability to adapt and grow services as the mobile ecosystem migrates to an increasingly multimedia/IP-based infrastructure,” added Beard. “This is part of our continued commitment to add value to our operator and enterprise customers.”

The consumer and professional worlds continue to become more mobile, the demand for mobile data services will also increase. Operators must be able to deliver such services, while also ensuring that their customers have a high quality experience, no matter where they are.

Sybase 365 is positioning itself well to dominate its space in the global market, driving adoption on a global scale by targeting those customers that are feeling the same crunch in providing quality services. As competition continues to increase, the drive for higher quality experiences will clearly identify market leaders.
