By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Communication technology company, ARRIS, announced that it has just gained a major order from Ziggo, B.V., a cable MSO in the Netherlands comprised of the former operators @HOME, Casema and Multikabel. The order was for the ARRIS Touchstone TM702 series of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 3.0-certified Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (E-MTAs).

ARRIS has been specializing in the design and engineering of broadband networks and has been developing, manufacturing and supplying cable telephony, video and high-speed data equipment, other than the outside plant construction and maintenance equipment for cable system operators.

All the products offered by ARRIS allow operators to deliver a complete range of integrated voice, video and data services to their subscribers. The company’s offerings include the DOCSIS 2.0 and PacketCable Qualified ARRIS C4 CMTS and DOCSIS 2.0 Certified ARRIS Touchstone (News - Alert) E-MTAs and cable modems. With the C4 CMTS, ARRIS also delivers DOCSIS 3.0-based functionality in both the I-CMTS & M-CMTS architectures to meet all ARRIS and DOCSIS 3.0 Solutions.

ARRIS Touchstone series includes high-speed data and telephony enabling equipment for both residential and commercial applications. The Touchstone TM702G is a DOCSIS 3.0 E-MTA that delivers two lines of primary line Voice over IP (VoIP), ultra-high speed data access, and two battery pack options in order to support telephony service during power outages.

Ziggo delivers Digital Television, Internet and Telephony services to the residential market over its HFC network. This current order will allow Ziggo to use the in-home devices to market much faster Internet speeds along with carrier-grade Voice over IP service to the top tier of its more than three million residential and business customers.

"In the highly-competitive Northern European market, we need to offer our subscribers the highest quality Internet and voice experience possible," said Paul Hendriks, chief technology officer at Ziggo.

Hendriks believes that ARRIS is at the forefront of technological innovation in DOCSIS head end and CPE equipment. He is confident that Arris (News - Alert) will help them give their customers an innovative and extremely competitive DOCSIS 3.0 solution.

"We are most pleased to extend our collaboration with Ziggo and to help them achieve success in this challenging and competitive environment," said Claudio Cerioli, senior vice president, International Sales at ARRIS. "The broad range of ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0 and 3.0 voice and data CPE products provides our customers with scalable, comprehensive and cost-efficient solutions to achieve their goals and meet the expectations of their customers.”
