Corplex Deploys ADC's Connectivity Broadcast Gear

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Corplex Inc will be using the connectivity broadcast gear from ADC in their mobile productions units. These units are used in sports, corporate news and entertainment events throughout the United States and Canada.

Corplex which deals in live television broadcasting has stated that it built one of the first all-digital mobile production units in 1998 and keeps updating them in tune with the changing times. Their two High Definition (HD) mobile units and two support units will cover activities and programs that are being held as part of one of the largest sports events in Tampa, Fla. this week.

ADC (News - Alert) provides the connections for wireline, wireless, cable, broadcast, and enterprise networks. With its SHDC ProPatch Miniature (PPM) platform, the company offers a new standard for minimizing rack space and reducing weight without compromising performance or reliability.

"As the broadcast market changes and the demand for higher bandwidth gear increases, the space on our mobile production units is still limited to 53 feet and 80,000 pounds, so we are constantly looking for new advancements and products that can help us utilize this same space in better ways," said Dave Greany, vice president and partner at Corplex.

"ADC's ProPatch Series frees up valuable space in the mobile unit by providing 30 percent more density. This translates into a third less space and half the weight of a normal patch bay so I can get more equipment in the truck. And ADC's PPM (News - Alert) patching systems work the first time, every time," Greany added.

The SHDC is ADC's super high-density patching system designed to reduce the amount of rack space required for coax video and audio panels. At less than 1Kg/RU, the SHDC is claimed to be the lightest true HD patch panel on the market. The ProPatch Miniature Series panels (PPM) with SHDC jacks are available in both 1 and 1.5 rack unit configurations. Company officials add that the ProPatch professional audio panels can also be used in the mobile units.

The company has stated that their solution helps broadcast and entertainment industry professionals integrate HDTV and digital audio capabilities into their businesses to achieve outstanding performance in real-world situations.

"ADC is pleased to play a role in providing high-performance and reliable broadcast connectivity solutions for Corplex's mobile production units at these major events," said Jaxon Lang, vice president of Global Connectivity Solutions (GCS) Americas at ADC. "Our broadcast solutions together with ADC's advanced in-building wireless solutions are enabling trouble-free coverage for all live event attendees."
