CADEKA Intros New Series of Triple DACs

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

CADEKA, a global supplier of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, has just launched the CDK3400/CDK3401, CDK3402/CDK3403, and CDK3404, a family of 8- and 10-bit triple Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) ranging from 100 to 180MSPS.

Based in Loveland, Colorado, CADEKA has been specializing in high performance analog semiconductor solutions for the instrumentation, ATE, industrial, medical, and professional video markets. CADEKA's product offerings include high performance operational amplifiers, data conversion products, and various other high performance analog solutions.

The company’s data converter products are designed for a variety of commercial, industrial, and military applications including: video capture, medical ultrasound, wireless communications, automated test equipment, digital oscilloscopes, radar, navigation, and guidance systems.

The newly launched high-speed DACs are optimized for use in video, display, and graphics applications. Also, the company said that the current-steering DACs have been specifically designed to produce standard video output levels when directly connected to a single-ended double-terminated 75-Ω coaxial cable.

The 8-bit CDK3404 offers a sampling frequency of 180MSPS making it well suited for display standards of 60Hz VGA (640 x 480), 72Hz SVGA (800 x 600), 75Hz XGA (1024 x 768), and 60Hz SXGA (1280 x 1024). In addition, it offers video signal conversion for RGB, YCBCR, and Composite, Y, C signals and operates from a single 3.3V supply including additional circuitry for bi-level sync and blanking level generation.

According to the company, high resolution, ease of use, and the extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C make the CDK3404 an excellent choice for several video applications including: LCD displays, medical ultrasound, automotive entertainment, ultra-mobile personal computers (UMPCs), mini-USB to VGA connectors, and other multimedia systems.

All five products are available today in Pb-free, RoHS compliant packages. With budgetary 1,000 piece pricing: the CDK3400 is available for $9.57, CDK3401 for $10.53, CDK3402 for $7.36, CDK3403 for $8.17 and CDK3404 for $6.94.
