Ubee Demos IP Video, DOCSIS 3.0, and 'Green' Product Lines

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Ubee Interactive, formerly known as Ambit, reportedly will demonstrate a variety of innovative products and solutions at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA (News - Alert))'s 2009 Convention & International Exposition.

The company will demonstrate a number of IP (Internet Protocol) migration solutions at the event. These solutions along with Ubee Interactive’s ever expanding DOCSIS 3.0 product line, illustrate the company's vision for converged network migration.

Ubee will use a number of “transport gateways” which convert either QAM or DVB-C signals on the access network to IP within the home. This conversion enables the use of cost-effective IP devices, whether they are PCs, media gateways, or other internet appliances used by consumers.

Ubee will also be displaying their "green" and compact IP set top box that uses a patent-pending liquid cooled heat dissipation system and a multi-state power scheme that lowers power consumption by over 50 percent.

In addition to these products, Ubee will display their new DDM 3500 "8 x 4" modem (up to 8 downstream channels and 4 upstream channels). The DDM3500 is based on a small-footprint packaging and can enable data rates of up to 320 Mbps. The officials informed that Ubee is also introducing their model DVW3200 Wireless EMTA to round out their DOCSIS 3.0 portfolio.

The DVW3200 Wireless EMTA incorporates 802.11n, 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and USB connectivity into a single integrated device.

Ubee Interactive supplies innovative, cost-effective communications products to wired and wireless service providers. Ambit Broadband Inc. (operating as “Ambit Microsystems” in the Americas), a supplier of broadband customer premises equipment (CPE), recently re-branded the company as Ubee Interactive.

“Our new name and logo reflect the fact that we are a special company,” said Maria Popo, president of Ubee/Americas. “We’re small enough to be responsive and flexible, but large enough to support the world’s largest broadband service providers.”
