Optimum Lightpath Intros Interactive Patient Care

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Optimum Lightpath reportedly has introduced “Interactive Patient Care,” a technology solution available exclusively through Optimum (News - Alert) Lightpath to New York metropolitan area hospitals.

Officials at Optimum Lightpath (News - Alert) say they’ve already signed an exclusive agreement with GetWellNetwork , an interactive patient care expert, to package the technology with their advanced business communications solutions, which run over the area’s largest all-fiber metro Ethernet network.

Using GetWellNetwork’s technology, powered by the company’s fiber optic network, hospital in-room televisions can evolve as a valuable, interactive experience for users.

According to the company, the Interactive Patient Care solution improves patient knowledge and safety, clinical care outcomes, staff responsiveness, bed turnover rates and workflow efficiencies for hospital staff.

“Nearly 70 percent of New York metropolitan area hospitals and nearly 100 percent of Long Island NY’s hospitals in our service area choose Optimum Lightpath to power their business communications solutions,” said Dave Pistacchio (News - Alert), general manager and executive vice president of Optimum Lightpath.

Pistacchio said that Optimum Lightpath has a unique perspective into the healthcare industry that just got better, firmly positioning the company to empower the smart community of hospitals to work smarter, faster and better.

Optimum Lightpath serves the majority of NY metropolitan area hospitals and medical facilities with data, Internet, voice, and video with service level agreements to enhance the delivery and outcomes of clinical care solutions.

“When patients and families actively participate in the care and recovery process health outcomes improve. Our service is designed to fully engage patients in the hospital care they receive,” said Michael O’Neil, chief executive officer of GetWellNetwork.

O’Neil said that as a leading provider of data services to hospitals, Optimum Lightpath is the ideal partner to deliver IPC (News - Alert) to new and established healthcare facilities and provide the technological platform to support an enhanced patient experience.

“This is a defining moment in the healthcare industry and together, I believe we have a tremendous opportunity to build a smart healthcare community within metropolitan New York and beyond to improve patient care performance,” he added.
