By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Cox Communications has been honored with the 2009 North American Broadband Customer Value Leadership Award by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) for providing the industry’s most economical and secure packages for high-speed Internet customers.

"Given the current economic environment, many customers are price sensitive but still want the latest features, and Cox (News - Alert) delivers both," said Gina Villanueva, research analyst for Frost & Sullivan. "By providing its customers with feature-rich Internet packages at a low price, Cox Communications shows that it understands the effect the economy is having on customers."

Through this honor, Cox has been recognized for providing its customers a host of Internet options including the Economy/Starter package, which provides a low-cost, simple solution to get customers online, Ultimate Internet, Cox's DOCSIS 3.0-based service which offers download speeds up to 50 Mbps and the free Cox Security Suite powered by McAfee (News - Alert).

Already available in several Cox markets, the Ultimate Internet feature will be rolled out to almost two-thirds of the Cox markets by the end of 2010.

"We recognize customers have different needs from their Internet service provider. Some simply need an easy, affordable way to get online and others are looking for the fastest speeds and latest features," noted Janet Barnard, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Northern Virginia. "We strive to meet those needs and provide all our customers excellent value - which is evidenced by this award."

The Frost & Sullivan Award evaluates service providers on several criteria important to customers. These include responsiveness to customer needs, enhanced quality and reliability of products and technological innovation and leadership.

Cox Communications is a multi-service broadband communications and entertainment company that boasts over 6.2 million total residential and commercial customers. It is not only the third-largest cable television company in the United States, but also the eighth largest phone company in the country.
