Verivue and eventIS to Develop On-Demand Digital Video Services

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Verivue, provider of network-centric media platforms, and eventIS, the European developer of video-on-demand and linear broadcasting software, reportedly have entered into cooperation on the development of a complete solution for on-demand digital videoservices.

Verivue (News - Alert) officials said that combining eventIS back-office software with the company’s Media Distribution Switch MDX 9000 systems, the two companies have developed a single solution that supports cable and telco operators’ advanced digital television services.

Company executives said that Verivue’s MDX 9000 series is the first network-centric platform with integrated solid-state storage built for the high-volume delivery of video to TVs, PCs and mobile devices.

eventIS’ converged Service Delivery Platform (cSDP) manages and integrates broadcast and VOD metadata, controls on demand network allocation and manages VOD subscriber information for three-screen delivery.

Officials said that by combining these two platforms into a single system, the two companies can provide a seamless solution that efficiently delivers on-demand video services.

“EventIS’ success in the European market is attributable, in part, to our open interfaces that enable television operators to take advantage of the best technology platforms,” said Erwin van Dommelen, president, eventIS, in a statement.

Dommelen said that the company’s cooperation with Verivue gives customers the benefits of popular back office software, together with Verivue’s media storage and distribution platform.

“The MDX 9000 enables operators to advance new video services on all the devices that their customers are using today, while eliminating datacenter sprawl and operational inefficiencies,” said Jim Dolce, CEO of Verivue.

Dolce said that eventIS products are popular throughout Europe and the company’s cooperation on this solution further extends market opportunities.

In March 2009, ARRIS, a global communications technology company, and Verivue, Inc. had announced that they have signed a global strategic agreement centered around Verivue's new MDX 9000 Series Media Distribution Switch.

The relationship brings together market experience and technical innovation, offering operators unique advantages and reduced risk as they respond to the growth in video consumption, company officials said.

Under the multi-year agreement, ARRIS will market and distribute the MDX 9000 series as part of their ConvergeMedia family of products, a suite of media application and distribution platforms designed to help operators address the unique challenges of media service delivery. In addition, ARRIS’ service organization will provide support for the Verivue portfolio, including network design, deployment and maintenance services to help speed the adoption of more efficient and profitable media delivery networks.
