By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Latens, a Europe-based provider of software-based security and networking solutions for video broadband providers, has reportedly unveiled new product, ECO Cable Gateway, which is a pre-integrated middleware and conditional access system, or “CAS”.

In addition, Latens has also released ECO 4.1 along with a Dashboard support package.

Latens’ products manage Pay TV services that are distributed over any one-way or two way network. The company’s new ECO Cable Gateway (News - Alert) is a single platform offering secure enhanced Digital TV, or “DTV,” switchover solutions, while the company’s ECO is a middleware pre-integrated with company’s software only CAS.

Specially designed for residential environments, the new ECO Cable Gateway facilitates cable television providers to monetize and expand their digital services with complete home networking solutions.

Additionally, the new ECO Cable Gateway allows creation of a fully secure, IP-based environment within the home with the help of current cabling infrastructure, thereby reducing installation costs.

The company’s CAS is utilized by many content providers to securely deliver their content across all broadband and broadcast platforms.

The new ECO Cable Gateway enables cable TV operators for the very first time to deploy a single integrated middleware and CAS platform. The CAS platform is capable of delivering next generation TV services across the entire home network including DVR, remote DVR, extended TV or video-on-demand, and can also integrate social networking web sites as well.

According to Jeremy Thorp, CEO of Latens, the company’s ECO Cable Gateway provides cable TV operators with the necessary tools to adapt their digital services to meet the changing demands of customer homes. The integrated middleware and security suite facilitates video network operators to keep up with rapidly evolving TV models through secure distribution of interactive content throughout the subscriber premises.
