ViXS Systems Endorses MoCA

ViXS Systems, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, has reportedly joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) as a Contributor member.

MoCA is the standard for home entertainment networking. MoCA technology provides the backbone for whole home entertainment networks of multiple wired and wireless products. The current MoCA specification can support multiple streams of HD video, network up to 16 MoCA enabled devices; deliver up to 175 Mbps throughput.

"ViXS has a clear commitment to investing in research and development, intellectual property and technology for advanced multimedia processing solutions. Their reputable and reliable video transcoding expertise complements the MoCA standard's industry recognized reputation for ultra high performance and high reliability," said Charles Cerino, president of MoCA, in a release.

As a Contributor, ViXS will be instrumental in helping develop MoCA technology to meet the bandwidth and reliability needs of network operators worldwide.

Other companies who are already MoCA Contributor members include Arris, Intel (News - Alert), DirecTV, Silicon Image, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and TimeWarner Cable.

ViXS provides ICs for processing, managing, securing and connecting video and audio between any class or size of digital entertainment device. The company's products can be found in a wide range of entertainment equipment including HD TVs, DVD recorders, set-top boxes, DVRs/PVRs, PCs, PMP, NAS devices, residential/home gateways and Blu-Ray players/recorders.
