By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

MavTV, a 24-hour cable and satellite television network, has reportedly partnered with Avail-TVN, an independent digital media services company, to offer VOD Content to its users.

MavTV offers variety of programming themes targeting men ages 18 to 54, including sports, gaming, comedy, women and relationships, health and fitness, finance, gadgets and movies. The company is owned by the Mav’rick Entertainment Network and is available in the United States, Canada and the U.K.

The new partnership will allow MavTV to utilize Avail-TVN’s full suite of VOD services to support the launch of its SD and HD VOD packages. The new services include metadata publishing, distribution and asset management services to support various codecs, formats, fast turnaround requirements, distribution platforms and advertising initiatives across North America.

“As we continue to build our distribution, we’re looking to Avail-TVN and their ubiquitous reach, robust asset management platform and toolset to support our VOD offerings,” said Steve Smith, MavTV president and chief operating officer.

Smith said the company is excited about its new partnership and looks forward to extending irreverent, humorous and opinionated programming into the on demand category with their affiliates and subscribers.

MavTV customers can also enjoy programs like the “Lucas Oil Motorsports Show,” “Rad Girls,” “American Tailgater” -- which takes a comic look at tailgating at some of the most famous events and stadiums -- as well as “Demolition Dynasty,” and the “Single Life.”

“It’s exciting to see another new entrant into the video on demand space, especially one with a target demographic that is so active in the platform,” said Matt Cohen, senior vice president of strategy and business development at Avail-TVN. “This deal furthers our efforts to provide unique On Demand content – especially in HD -- that we are sure will appeal to our affiliates’ customers.”

Avail-TVN claims to be the largest independent digital media services company in North America offering full content line up of MPEG-4 encoded live programming as well as video on demand content in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 to multichannel video providers throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico.
