Microtune to Showcase Advanced Silicon Tuners for Cable Telecom

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Microtune (News - Alert), a receiver systems company that designs and markets advanced radio frequency, or “RF,” and demodulator electronics, will be demonstrating their advanced silicon tuners that are supposed to take cable telecommunications to the next level at an expo in Denver, Colorado.

At the expo, Microtune will demo the cost-effective and highly flexible DOCSIS 3.0 technology and illustrate how their RF products can help fasten the migration to next-generation converged and connected services. The demonstrations will also include products like DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS-certifiable solutions, multi-service RF gateways, True2Way capability, and ultra-fast wideband services.

Microtune’s cable TV products consist of DOCSIS 3.0 1-GHz wideband tuner; Multi-standard Low-Power 1-GHz tuner; Low-power tuner for set-top boxes; and Single-chip tuner for RNG applications. The company has said that all of them will be on showcase at the expo.

James A. Fontaine, CEO and President of Microtune, said that cable operators in order to satisfy changing consumer demands and tackle complex business pressures are looking for next generation of services and platforms that can provide a connected, interactive and competitive experience for their subscribers.

Microtune’s enabling technologies have so far brought new capabilities to the set-top box and cable modem, and at the expo they will be displaying the RF electronics that are helping to change the consumer device paradigm.

With plans to continue to offer market-proven and customer-hardened products, the company plans to continue with products that can be flexibly modularized to meet the needs of its customers as they deploy new platform and service strategies.

The company’s technology can help cable operators to optimize bandwidth, ensure quality of service, retain subscribers or leverage digital phone, video, and data services. Its products are engineered to deliver high-performance and reliable video, voice and data signals across a diverse range of end products and they also meet RoHS ‘Green’ Compliance, supporting worldwide environmental and health standards.

Cisco (News - Alert) recently awarded 2009 Excellence in Technology Alignment’s supplier award to Microtune.
