ANDA Networks Releases Ethernet Access Systems for Cable Operators

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

ANDA Networks (News - Alert), a provider of carrier-class fiber and copper-based access platforms for wireline networks or wireless backhaul applications, has released its new portfolio of Ethernet access and real time monitoring systems.

The new Ethernet solutions enable cable operators to deliver revenue-generating business services and mobile backhaul over their network with demonstrable service level agreements, or “SLAs,” company officials said.

Two new systems – ANDA’s  EtherReach network termination equipment and EtherEdge aggregation solutions – enable cable operators to deliver Ethernet private lines, transparent local area network, or “LAN,” services, managed virtual private networks, or “VPNs,” and bundled voice, video and data transport services.

The MEF (News - Alert) certified EtherEdge 4000 series modular Ethernet aggregation solution enables cost-effective delivery of Ethernet services over copper, fiber and wireless backhaul facilities, say officials. The EtherEdge can be stationed anywhere in a multi-tenant building, POP or central office, can manage traffic flows and optimize network utilization at both the ingress and egress of the base stations or POP’s in real time.

According to company officials, ANDA’s EtherReach 1000 and 2000 series are MEF certified single user versions of its EtherEdge 4000 series, and are designed to be located at the customer premises. They include a family of intelligent network terminating equipment that support different WAN interfaces for either Ethernet-over-TDM or native Ethernet-over Fiber support for standard 10/100, GigE, and 10GigE WAN interfaces to ensure maximum reach for an MSO’s Ethernet service footprint at very attractive prices.

ANDA’s equipment platforms are integrated with its EtherProbe real-time monitoring solution. These platforms allow multiple service operators (MSOs) to non-intrusively remotely monitor and measure carrier Ethernet traffic in real time without additional test equipment or operator intervention, company sources said.

In May, ANDA Networks announced the new EtherProbe series of products, the stand-alone Ethernet traffic monitoring and SLA verification solutions which are fully contained within the customer network terminating equipment, or “NTE.”

“ANDA’s full suite of Ethernet access and aggregation equipment coupled with the integrated test and performance measurement software enables cable operators to meet and exceed the resiliency and reliability that they demand from their copper, fiber or wireless network connections,” Greg Gum, CMO of ANDA Networks, said.

With ANDA’s solutions, cable operators can reduce their overall management OPEX (News - Alert) and equipment CAPEX by eliminating truck rolls, additional test sets, network probes, or monitoring personnel to deliver stringent real-time business class SLA’s over an MSO’s own network or leased off-net facilities, Gum added.
