Leading Cable News Network Deploys Optibase EZ TV Advanced IPTV Solution

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

A leading cable news network has reportedly selected Optibase EZ TV advanced IPTV (News - Alert) solution for in-house video delivery.

Optibase provides video over IP solutions such as video encoding, decoding and streaming for federal and state government agencies, telco operators, enterprise organizations and broadcast service providers

The EZ TV system will serve a number of employees in the network’s headquarters and remote sites. With the new system in place, employees can view and monitor in real time and on demand the network’s internal and production channels, as well as incoming feeds. The Optibase (News - Alert) EZ TV solution will replace the network’s legacy analog system, which delivered only a limited number of channels and required a dedicated TV monitor for each employee.

The EZ TV system will enable the network to deliver a large number of channels over IP set-top boxes as well as to desktops running Windows or Mac OS, with user-configurable mosaic views of up to 16 channels on a single screen. It is also possible to manage user permissions with Microsoft (News - Alert) Active Directory groups. In addition, the EZ TV will leverage existing IP infrastructure and utilize existing desktops to dramatically reduce the network’s day-to-day operating costs.

The EZ TV Player is a browser-based application with minimal footprint. It simultaneously displays any combination of live channels and VOD content chosen by each user. EZ TV also supports multiple video formats like HD and SD H.264 and MPEG-2. It also handles multiple audio tracks and closed caption display.

Optibase EZ TV System is an advanced application suite that empowers organizations to deliver live and on-demand video over local and wide area IP networks. Video is delivered from any source to every PC and TV used by members of the organization over LANs. Using the advanced EZ TV Web Portal, administrators will be able to quickly create channel groups and distribute them to all users or selected user groups. In addition, Optibase EZ TV System will automatically distribute content, software and ticker message updates to all users.

According to Michael Chorpash, vice president at Optibase Inc., over the past two years, Optibase IPTV solutions have been deployed by leading networks, content originators, federal government agencies and DOD entities. The selection of EZ TV by diverse customers with unique and stringent performance requirements proves the technical excellence of Optibase’s IPTV solutions.
