Sigma System Enters into Agreement with Ericsson

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Sigma Systems, a major player in advanced IP service fulfillment solutions, reportedly has entered into a global reseller agreement with Ericsson that is expected to provide next-generation order management and fulfillment solutions to telecom operators worldwide.

Company officials said that the agreement enables Ericsson to resell Sigma Systems’ (News - Alert) Service Management Platform, a carrier-grade platform that allows rapid service creation, advanced order management and automated provisioning, and Sigma’s service management solutions for triple-play -- including high-speed data, and IMS-based IPTV (News - Alert) and VoIP -- to its hundreds of telco customers.

“Telecom operators are increasingly deploying IP-based services such as IPTV, leading to the need for cost-effective creation of service bundles for triple-play,” said Martina Kurth, research director of Gartner’s (News - Alert) Carrier Operations and Strategies branch.

Kurth said that operators need order management and fulfillment solutions that enable next-generation service transformation, speed time to revenue, and allow new multimedia services to be added to existing offerings.

“Telecom operators today are under pressure to deliver new competitive services, and simultaneously increase the operational efficiency of their business,” said Tim Spencer, president and COO of Sigma Systems.

Spencer said that by combining the expertise and solutions of Ericsson (News - Alert) and Sigma Systems, the companies are providing telecom operators the reliable resources they need to quickly create and roll out IPTV and other new services, reduce operations costs and expand revenue streams.

“The agreement with Ericsson enables us to further advance our commitment to bring next-generation order management and fulfillment to telecom operators, and allows us to extend our proven, multi-service fulfillment solutions to a broader set of global next-generation operators,” said Gary Gibbs, vice president of channel development at Sigma Systems.

Back in September Sigma Systems and next-generation operator ZON Multimedia, Portugal’s provider of triple-play solutions, had announced the extension of their working relationship through 2013.

While ZON already utilizes Sigma’s Service Management Portfolio for fulfillment of its triple-play offerings in Portugal, the agreement extension also includes OSS support for ZON’s new mobile and Fiber-to-the-Home services.
