NETGEAR, a provider of technologically branded networking solutions, has stated that CableLabs has awarded DOCSISÂ 3.0 and PacketCable 1.5 certification for their new CG3000 Wireless-N Voice/Data Cable Gateway (News - Alert) for cable operators.

 

CableLabs is a non-profit research and development consortium that is dedicated to pursuing new cable technologies and to helping its cable operator members integrate those technical advancements into their business objectives.

 

According to NETGEAR officials, the CG3000 DOCSIS 3.0, Wireless-N Gigabit Cable Gateway for cable operators is designed to deliver the ultimate in performance for home and small business networking. This gateway can offer both wired and wireless connections for ultra fast data transfers, VoIP, Real Time HD media streaming, gaming and maximum Internet bandwidth.

 

While usual DOCSIS 3.0 specifications require support for at least four bonded channels downstream and four bonded channels upstream, the CG3000 exceeds the specification with eight bonded channels downstream.

 

The Gateway provides high-speed wireless service in addition to wired LAN and offers extended Wi-Fi range with multiple internal antennas, added noise immunity, packet acceleration, Multiple SSIDs, Wireless Multimedia QoS and WPS. Data rates of up to 320 Mbps downstream and 120 Mbps upstream are made possible through the built in 802.11 wireless access point.

 

David James, director of product management for NETGEAR, said that the company’s CG3000 provides voice service capability combined with the strategic performance advantage of numerous bonded DOCSIS 3.0 channels, which gives their MSO customers a competitive advantage in Triple Play (News - Alert) service delivery. Another product of theirs, the CG3100 had similarly achieved certification for EuroDOCSIS 3.0 and EuroPacketCable 1.5 specifications and now they are pleased to add this CG3000 DOCSIS 3.0 certification to their product portfolio.

 

The company views this certification as yet another milestone for them as they continue to expand their product line designed specifically to serve the cable market.

 

NETGEAR’s CG3000 Wireless-N Voice/Data Cable Gateway has now joined an expanding family of CableLabs (News - Alert)-Certified and Cable Europe Labs-Certified NETGEAR products that enable cable operators to deliver advanced Triple Play and triple screen home networking services to their subscribers.
