By Jyothi Mahalingham, TMCnet Contributor

Cox (News - Alert) Communications has unveiled On DEMAND, an upgraded on-screen interface to offer quicker and easier navigation of its content.

The upgraded on-screen interface, provided free, will enable Cox Digital Cable customers to more easily reach the On DEMAND library of thousands of entertainment options.

"Cox's goal is to provide customers with an attractive, fast and intuitive On DEMAND experience," said Kim Stanley, vice president of operations, in a release. "The new features make navigation easy, especially since there is now more programming than ever to browse. Cox has increased the amount of On DEMAND programming available to subscribers."

The upgrade offers several improvements including:

--Horizontal scrolling for easier and faster routing through folders
--'Skip' functions allow the user to skip forward or backward in 15-minute intervals while performing the fast-forwarding or rewinding functions
--Availability of movie previews straight from a folder's main menu
--New Instant Replay feature that allows a viewer to jump back 10 seconds to view again

Cox Communications is also planning to increase the number of selections available at its FreeZone, which offers thousands of movie titles, including movies in the HD format.

Cox Communications is the third-largest cable TV company in USA, currently catering to the entertainment needs of 6.2 million residences and businesses.
