TMS, ThinkAnalytics Showcase Solution for Cable Operators

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Tribune Media Services, a provider of entertainment information databases, reportedly partnered with predictive analytics and content recommendations company, ThinkAnalytics.

Both companies will collaborate on a demonstration for cable operators at the upcoming CableLabs (News - Alert) Winter Conference.

TMS provides robust entertainment metadata, which is currently deployed by more than 4,000 companies across the globe. Under the agreement, TMS’ metadata will be used in the ThinkAnalytics Content Recommendations Engine to be showcased at the event.

This engine is hugely popular amongst the entertainment consumers as it helps them to find and watch the content they'll enjoy most. ThinkAnalytics Content Recommendations Engine has the ability to provide comprehensive recommendations by using powerful real-time analytics, true personalization and behavioral modeling techniques.

These recommendations are quite useful as they are based on an individual's implicit and explicit preferences and they are relevant to both linear TV and video-on-demand.

The ThinkAnalytics engine uses TMS data to apply an automated analytic approach and advanced algorithmic techniques to provide consumers with a highly optimized entertainment experience. This partnership will also enable the cable operators to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and customer retention.

Eddie Young, CEO, ThinkAnalytics said that the ThinkAnalytics Recommendations Engine broadens viewers’ consumption and facilitates entertainment content discovery across all of the customer touch points: set-top box, mobile device, Web and customer call center.

According to Young, it is imperative for cable operators to prove their value to subscribers and ThinkAnalytics is proud to work with TMS in demonstrating them how they can achieve tangible results with the best recommendations for the individual and the context.

Several cable operators are searching and evaluating means to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty and, ultimately, revenue, said Jay Fehnel, vice president of TMS' Entertainment Products division. These business goals can be reached through robust metadata, combined with innovative recommendations engines.

'We look forward to working with ThinkAnalytics as they demonstrate their Content Recommendations Engine,' Fehnel said.
