DIRECTV, Inc. announced it has expanded its International programming platform with a new, exclusive 24-hour Chinese channel: Charming China.

 

Charming China provides the newest and most popular Mandarin entertainment programs from nine popular provincial channels in China. DIRECTV delivers state-of-the-art technology, unmatched programming, sports packages and industry leading customer service to its customers in U.S. and Latin America.

 

Charming China will be available only on DIRECTV's International programming platform. It integrates diverse programs such as entertainment news, talent shows, celebrity interviews, musical programs and art programs to meet the lifestyle and demands of the overseas Chinese viewers. DIRECTV audiences will be the first to watch the latest episodes of their favorite programming produced by Hunan TV, Beijing TV, Jiangsu TV and other top-rated Chinese TV stations on Charming China.

 

According to Mutaz Alshuaibi, director of DIRECTV International, with the launch of this Charming China, Chinese viewers will be able to enjoy the best and newest programming from all over China. DIRECTV offers culturally relevant content and captivating Chinese programming that is unlike any other content available in the U.S. market.

 

Only the top-rated shows from the most renowned provincial stations will be aired on Charming China. Some of the programs that have been included are Day Day Up, a talk show featuring Chinese traditional etiquettes and proprieties; Happy Base Camp, one of the longest running entertainment variety shows in China; Bravely Forward, a challenge show featuring all big stars and famous faces; and Backstage Story, an affecting celebrity talk show designed and produced by senior TV professionals and more.

 

Charming China is available to U.S. audiences on channel 2055 as a part of DIRECTV's International programming package MandarinDirect III for just $19.99 per month. However, customers have to first subscribe to DIRECTV Basic Choice, Preferred Choice or any DIRECTV base programming package.

 

DIRECTV also provides premium Cantonese and Mandarin TV entertainment. In addition, DIRECTV offers access to more than 255 English channels, including popular channels such as CNN, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. The DIRECTV's International platform has launched more than 135 channels that deliver a number of new programming in multiple foreign-languages to emerging ethnic markets throughout the United States.
