Oscar Gets on Facebook, Twitter

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, IP Communications Magazines

For those that don’t have Oscar parties, or a friend or family member in town with whom they can jointly comment on and criticize the outfits and accolades celebs, the Academy Awards this year went online to allow such interactions to take place via Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter.

Of course, online banter about such award events is nothing new. Regular folks have been going online to discuss the “beautiful people” since AOL (News - Alert) chat rooms were the hot communications media.

But with more nominees this year, there’s more to Tweet about this year. And the fact that favorite “Avatar” didn’t win the Best Picture category probably really whipped the online world into a frenzy.
