TiVo (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of advanced television services including digital video recorders or ‘DVRs,’ has announced that its TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL boxes are now available for purchase at Best Buy retail stores and also at its website tivo.com. The TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL boxes enable the viewers to combine access to cable programming, movies, web videos, and music into one box, and on a stunning new HD interface.

The TiVo Premiere box offers up to 45 hours of HD storage space or up to 400 hours of standard definition programming to the users, while the TiVo Premiere XL box can hold up to 150 hours of high-definition or up to 1350 hours of standard definition programming. Both the solutions provide a number of advanced features to the viewers, such as the new Search function that lets them find their favorite shows faster, easier, and from many sources, ranging from a digital premium channel from cable, a funny outtake from YouTube (News - Alert), or a movie from broadband sources such as Netflix or Amazon ‘Video On Demand’. Leveraging the Explore feature, the viewers can their favorite and related content, while through their Browse feature they can browse content organized by category or topic, which comes complete with a full-screen menu that includes a rich display of movie posters and TV show logos for exploring, making it simple to discover new shows, movies or videos to watch or record.

Deploying the advanced imaging technology from Adobe, a media solutions company, both TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL have been built on Adobe Flash software, to provide a pathway to other application experiences and development opportunities. Additionally, the company has responded to customers and subscriber feedback and has included an on-screen disk meter which shows them how much room is left to record.

According to Jim Denney, Vice President and General Manager of Product Marketing at TiVo, the company is thrilled to offer TiVo Premiere nationwide, and the platform is designed to serve as the one box that replaces viewers’ cable boxes as well as becomes their movie box, web box, music box and DVR too. Denney continued that while other hardware and service options may seem less expensive, TiVo combines everything the viewers need into one box and the company offers service pricing well below most cable offerings. The new platform is built on Adobe Flash software, which provides a strong foundation for continued innovation to allow for the future rollout of new features and functionality, Denney added.

TiVo Inc. and Conax, a provider of security solutions for digital TV and content distribution, recently announced a partnership for offering DVB set-top box platform for deployment by television operators.
