ZVOX hosts Ugly TV Contest

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

ZVOX will gift a ZVOX Z-Base 550 home theater system to the person who will submit the photo showing the biggest mess of wires in back of a TV.

The company, a pioneer of the concept of the single-connecting-wire home theater system, has announced an "Ugly TV Contest."

Noting the growing problem of TV wire hairballs in the society, ZVOX founder Tom Hannaher said that people tried to solve the problem 30 years ago through the concept of a simple VCR hookup.

"But now there are cable boxes, Xboxes, BluRay players and multi-speaker surround sound systems. It's a real mess. I'm suspicious that wires mate and produce offspring back there!"

Kate Connors, internet marketing manager at ZVOX,  has four children including a 7-month-old boy who's just learning to crawl.

'He could get lost in the wire jungle,' added Connors.

ZVOX said that they have designed this contest to draw attention of people towards this problem wherein family pets or young children can be lost in the ubiquitous copper maze that exists behind most modern TVs.

Those interested to participate in this contest can email the entry photographs to [email protected], with 'Ugly TV Contest' as the subject line of the email. The last date to submit the entries is April 30, 2010.
