By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

The growing customer base in the Middle East and Africa was a Call Alert for Cable and Wireless Worldwide, C&W, to expand base, and it responded well by opening its new regional headquarters in Dubai Internet City (News - Alert).

The new office is a testament to the company's continued success and commitment in the region. Having deployed an extensive telecommunications network across the Middle East in 2008, it was in a position to provide connectivity to global enterprise customers including HSBC.

During its three year presence in the region, it helped connect customers based in UAE back into the MPLS network. The points of presence included Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain.

C&W Worldwide dramatically improved services and support, meeting the needs of enterprise customers moving operations to the Middle East market. Another achievement lay in its ability to route increased levels of data traffic in the EMEA region, where Internet usage was expected to grow by leaps and bounds.

"This investment further strengthens our commitment and ability to serve our enterprise customers on a global scale,'' Jim Marsh, CEO, C&W Worldwide, said, and added that understanding the market helped the company provide local customers with relevant Service Level Agreements.

C&W Worldwide has strong ties with the prominent local telecommunications companies and hence is able to give customers seamless, consistent services and connect them to its other facilities. Multinational companies operating in the Middle East region have access to an advanced portfolio of Internet Protocol based Managed Communications services such as hosting, security and global connectivity.

Ghassan Latif has been appointed to lead C&W's Worldwide efforts in the region. Dubai Internet City is now recognized as one of the largest ICT clusters in the world. In fact, it is often regarded as the backbone of the industry, as it houses many fortune 500 companies and more than 1,000 specialized industry leaders from a wide spectrum of industry.

Cable&Wireless Worldwide aims to be the first-choice provider of mission critical communications. The Company is one of the world's leading critical communication providers delivering a range of high-quality managed voice, data and IP-based services and applications to large corporate companies.
