Mitec Receives Order for Tower-Mounted Booster

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Mitec Telecom Inc., a designer and manufacturer of mobile wireless, fixed wireless, broadcast and satellite components, announced it has received an order for high-power, tower-mounted boosters.

TMBs are part of Mitec's (News - Alert) Coverage Solution product line and are available in both multi- and single-carrier format -- both in new and ongoing network rollouts.

"Mitec has been successfully demonstrating the effectiveness of this type of technology for various applications and continues to gain traction in some of the fastest expanding markets worldwide, which we expect will generate volume opportunities in this category", Daniel Piergentili, president and chief executive officer at Mitec said.

Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Mitec has been marketing its products worldwide to network providers for incorporation into high-performing wireless networks used in voice and data/internet communications. Coverage Solutions are a core product line for Mitec as it continues to offer its growing customer base products that support mobile handheld devices such as iPhones and Blackberries in addition to cellular handsets, in both rural and urban areas.

Mitec believes that the TMB technology compensates for traditional challenges relating to combining and cable losses between the base station and antenna and can be used in areas where typical deployment of additional sites is not viable. This technology is capable of offering simplified configuration and convenient installation options to the telecom customer as well as a variety of power, monitoring and control options, boost the radio signal in both directions, increasing the coverage area of sites and reducing the number of required cell sites.

Mitec have also gained the first in a series of orders from a large network operator for its new MTX series VSAT Block Upconverter. Deliveries for the same are expected to take place in Q2, fiscal 2011 and additional orders are expected from this customer throughout the year.
